Waterfront development project is the largest private sector investment in Sri Lanka (USD 900 million+) and can be recognized as a city within a city. The 4.5 million sq. ft. mixed development project includes an 800 room luxury 5 star + hotel, a large high-end retail mall, entertainment areas, luxury residencies, state of the art office space, banquet and convention areas.

The client, John Keels Holdings (JKH) commissioned a UK based architectural firm “Balmond Studio” for the design, which require integration of multiple functional elements within one architectural composition. Because of the scale of the project, a joint venture of two international contractors and one local contractor with Hyundai as the lead contractor, are the main contractors for the project, with 200 + sub-contractors are involved in the construction.

MKA is proudly associating as the Local architect for the project and has worked collaboratively with the foreign architect for the adaptation of the project in to local context and climatic conditions.
