A prime one Acre property in Gregory’s road was advertised by the UDA for bids. British Overseas company, commissioned MKA to produce a conceptual design for the property which won the bid. Thereafter MKA developed up to the detail design for a 65 units Super Luxury Apartment Project with two basement parking, 8 floors, and Roof top pool and with all the amenities. Since this was a high end apartment complex, JKH wish to have a foreign architectural input and commissioned P&T Singapore.
MKA was closely with P&T and the design was adjusted to meet the client’s marketing needs. Statutory clearances and approvals were obtained by MKA. The detail design and specifications were done by P&T in close collaboration with MKA. The construction management was entirely handled by MKA, under a project manager and a team of consultants.
A five star resort hotel designed and build after demolishing the old hotel. It consist of 143 bed rooms, two large restaurants, street café, a roof top sunset bar lounge and a banquet halls with separate entrance from the street.
MKA was the local architect and collaborated with Pentago consulting architects, Malaysia and prepared all the applications for statutory clearances and approvals. At the design stage, MKA closely collaborated with Pentago to arrive at a tropical design, environmentally suited for Sri Lanka. During the construction phase, MKA issued spot details, and checked and approved shop drawings, and provided the site supervision.
This is a six star hotel under the Ananthara brand, comprising of pool villas, guest wings, restaurants, club houses, conference halls, a tiered cascading pool, staff quarters, and facility buildings on a property of 50 + Acres, overlooking the sea.
The conceptual designs were done by the multi-national architectural firm WATG, during which our staff went overseas for consultations and to provide the local input. Presentations were done overseas as well as locally to the client, Ananthara and Hemas. Once the conceptual design was accepted by the client, MKA was entrusted to do the detail design and drawings in collaboration, adopting to the local context and climatic conditions. MKA obtained all the statutory clearances and the building permit. On this project while working with a multi-national architectural firm, we have met the international standards in detailing and during the construction. The client, John Keels Holdings (JKH) commissioned a UK based architectural firm “Balmond Studio” for the design, which require integration of multiple functional elements within one architectural composition. Because of the scale of the project, a joint venture of two international contractors and one local contractor with Hyundai as the lead contractor, are the main contractors for the project, with 200 + sub-contractors are involved in the construction.
